It is what it is: a tune on thirds. I wanted to try playing with a more traditional bass line than I usually do. Actually my bass lines are usually pretty rudimentary in improvised pieces because I'm not a good enough pianist, but usually in composed pieces I make them more polyphonic than here (though I did bring in a third voice that provides a little imitative polyphony in the second half of the piece).
